Does same-day pool service need a permit?
Pool projects in Las Vegas require a permit printed for the jobsite, according to the city's Building & Safety checklist. Nevada law requires the contractor to obtain all necessary permits before residential pool or spa work begins. Routine cleaning and chemical service may not need a permit, so ask the pro what applies to your job.
What licensing should a pool pro have in Nevada?
Nevada requires contractors doing residential pool or spa construction to be licensed by the Nevada State Contractors Board. Unlicensed contracting activity is illegal in Nevada, with limited exceptions. The Board advises homeowners to confirm that both the contractor and any subcontractors are licensed before work starts.
Do pool maintenance companies need to register in Southern Nevada?
Pool maintenance companies and Qualified Operators servicing permitted aquatic venues must register with the Southern Nevada Health District. Qualified Operators must complete a national Qualified Pool Operator certification course first. Registration requires a current Certified Pool Operator certificate and a first-time sign-up through the online EH Portal.
What should a pool contractor carry?
The Nevada State Contractors Board says pool contractors should be experienced in pool construction and financially responsible. They should pass a criminal background check and carry required insurance and bonding. Ask for proof of both before work begins.
